Harlowe Beauty Studio is a permanent makeup and skin care studio at 911 South 8th Street in Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, Florida. We offer microblading, powder and combination brows, nanobrows, lip blushing, permanent eyeliner, areola and scalp micropigmentation, saline tattoo removal, facials, chemical peels, microneedling, dermaplaning and waxing. The studio is owned by Meaghan White, a licensed esthetician and permanent makeup artist, and every service starts with a free 30-minute consultation.

We moved the studio from Jacksonville to Fernandina Beach. We are a short drive from Yulee and the rest of Nassau County, about 35 miles from Jacksonville, and just across the river from St. Marys, Georgia. Here is what we do, what it costs, and what to expect.

Brows: microblading, powder brows, combination brows and nanobrows

Brows are one of Meaghan's specialties, and there is more than one way to build them.

• Microblading ($375): a manual tool places fine hair strokes within the brow. The result is light and natural, for anyone who wants a hair stroke look.
• Powder brows and ombre brows ($400 each): a machine places tiny dots of pigment (a stippling technique). Powder brows have a soft, pixelated look throughout. Ombre brows are lighter in the front and darker at the tail. This shaded style is often recommended for oily or sensitive skin.
• Combination brows ($400): hair strokes with a little more definition.
• 3D nanobrows ($425): hair-like strokes made with a machine, plus shading in target areas for a 3D effect. Nano strokes last longer than microbladed strokes and are a better option for oily skin.

Each of these includes a shaping and color consult and the six-week perfecting session. Results typically last 1 to 3 years, depending on your skin type and lifestyle. If you are a returning client outside the six-week window, a touch-up is $200.

Plan on about 3 hours. We map your brows first, agree on width, arch and style together, and do not start tattooing until you give the go-ahead. We use a strong numbing cream, and most people fall asleep. One local note: keep your brows dry and skip swimming and saunas for 5 days, so schedule around beach plans. Lip blushing

Lip blushing ($400) is a light dusting of color across the whole lip that enhances your natural tint and shape. It defines the lips rather than adding volume, though it can give the illusion of fuller lips in a natural way. For a bolder lipstick look, full or ombre lips are $429, and a lip liner tattoo is $300.

If your lips have darker undertones, lip color neutralization can lighten them, either alone for a nude look or before lip blushing. It ranges from $99 as an add-on to lip blushing to $450 as a separate procedure.

The appointment takes about 4 hours, depending on lip size. Expect swelling for two to three days, a bright orange stage around days 2 and 3 (every color does this), and peeling within about five days. The color fades, then comes back through by around six weeks, when you return for your included perfecting session. See the lip tattooing menu and the lip blushing FAQ.

Permanent eyeliner and eyelash enhancement

Permanent eyeliner suits anyone who has trouble applying liner or wants a dramatic look. In the consultation we choose color, length, thickness, and a defined or faded edge.

• Eyelash enhancement ($300): pigment placed between the lashes for a fuller looking lash line.
• Lower eyeliner ($275)
• Winged or classic eyeliner ($350)
• Upper and lower liner ($400)

Swelling can last anywhere from two to 72 hours, and the liner looks much darker for up to 10 days. See the eyeliner menu and the eyeliner FAQ.

Areola tattooing and scalp micropigmentation

We offer areola reconstruction for breast cancer survivors, from full nipple reconstruction to light pigmentation. Areolar tattooing starts at $250 for one side and $500 for both. 3D nipple tattooing is $300 for one side and $600 for both. Most of our areola clients are covered by insurance, and if you are not, we keep affordable self-pay pricing. See the areola tattooing menu.

Scalp micropigmentation places tiny dots of custom-mixed pigment that look like hair follicles, for men and women at any stage of hair loss. Partial treatments for a hairline or small spot run $200 to $400, and pricing goes up with the amount of coverage. Hairline strokes to correct a receding hairline are $400. Saline tattoo removal and color correction

Saline removal lightens unwanted permanent makeup by drawing pigment up and out through the scab as the skin heals. It works on brows, lips, and migrated eyeliner, areas where laser removal is usually not an option. Each session is $99, and 1 to 3 sessions are normally needed, spaced 8 weeks apart. Complete removal is not guaranteed.

Facials, chemical peels, microneedling and dermaplaning

Our facials use Bioelements products. Each Signature facial takes 50 minutes and starts with a SkinReading so we can tailor it to you. Most are $79, and the Custom Blend, Acne Clearing, and Firm + Lift facials are $89. You can add microdermabrasion or LED light therapy to any facial for $10 each. • Dermaplaning facial ($79, 60 minutes): removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz, combined with a Bioelements Signature facial. There is usually no downtime, and many people come back every 4 to 6 weeks.
• Chemical peels (from $79): the lactic acid peel is our gentlest, well suited to sensitive or mature skin and first-time peels. Mandelic is $89, Jessner is $99, and TCA is $129. After most peels you will need SPF 30 or higher and should stay out of the sun for at least 48 hours, so book with your beach days in mind.
• Microneedling (from $99): about an hour, with numbing first. Skin may look red for one to three days, and you may need three to six treatments to maximize results.
• BB Glow ($159): a tinted serum infused with microneedling for light to medium coverage. We recommend at least 3 sessions, two weeks apart.

Waxing, lash lifts and brow lamination

Waxing starts small: eyebrow $12, lip $10, full face $40, Brazilian $45 and full leg $50. A keratin lash lift is $79 and lasts 4 to 6 weeks. Brow tinting is $35, and brow lamination with tint is $89. See the waxing menu and the lash and brow menu.

What to expect at your first visit

• Free consultation: 30 minutes, for any service. We talk through your goals, color and shape options, and which treatment fits you best.
• Deposit: required to book permanent makeup only, and applied to your total. Please give 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule, or the deposit is kept.
• Intake form: first-time clients fill out a short form at the studio.
• Age: permanent makeup clients must be 18 or older. Facial clients under 18 are welcome with a parent or guardian.
• Perfecting session: included at no charge within six weeks of your first permanent makeup appointment.
• Aftercare: you leave with written instructions for most services.
• Payment: credit and debit cards, cash, Apple Pay and Google Pay, plus payment plans through Cherry.

Meaghan is a licensed esthetician, permanent makeup artist and the owner of Harlowe Beauty Studio, which was previously named Me-A-Ghan Aesthetics. She specializes in lips, brows and skin. Originally from Alabama, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Alabama. Problems with her own skin led her to study aesthetics, and later permanent makeup. She also teaches a five-day fundamental permanent makeup training for new and working artists.

Do I need a deposit?

Only for permanent makeup. The deposit is applied to your total. With less than 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule, it is kept.
