Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique designed to enhance the appearance and shape of the eyebrows. Using a handheld tool with tiny needles, a skilled technician creates hair-like strokes that mimic natural eyebrow hairs and embeds pigment into the skin. The result is fuller, more defined brows. The procedure typically requires an initial session and a follow-up for touch-ups, with results lasting anywhere from 1-3 years, depending on the individual's skin type and lifestyle. This method is often used to help people with thin or sparse eyebrows achieve a more desirable and defined shape and look

Microshading uses a technique similar to stippling, where small, pinpoint dots of pigment are implanted into the skin. This results in a shaded or gradient look, with the brows looking denser at the tail and gradually becoming lighter towards the front.

Microshading is often recommended for individuals with oily or sensitive skin or those who desire a more filled-in look. Like microblading, microshading requires an initial session and a follow-up for touch-ups, with results typically lasting between 1-3 years.

What is Ombre/Powder Brows?

Ombre and Powder brows are a type/style of microshading in which a machine is used to give the eyebrows a fuller look. Little dots are placed within the brow using a stippling technique.

Ombre by definition, means going from light to dark. So with an ombre brow, typically the tail is darker and the front is lighter.

Nanobrows uses ultra-fine, single needles to deposit ink and achieves more precise, hair-like strokes. The result is exceptionally natural and detailed, perfect for creating delicate, realistic brows.

It's often recommended for those with sensitive or mature skin, as it is less invasive and can cause less trauma to the skin.

As with microblading and microshading, nanobrows require touch-ups and the results can last between 1-3 years, depending on various factors like skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

Brow Color Corrections - The Process

Permanent makeup offers an enduring solution for achieving well-defined eyebrows without the daily hassle of makeup application. However, as many have discovered, the pigment used in permanent makeup procedures can undergo undesirable color changes over time, turning into shades of blue, grey, red, or even green. While there not just one cause for this, there is a solution. At Harlowe Beauty Studio we have worked on many cases where the original pigment has turned an off color. Our experience has helped many regain amazing brows, just like the example here. As you can see, our clients brows have turned a green color. This is not our original work and does not mean that the original technician did anything wrong, it has just ended up this way. We see that the saturation is not too high, so we opted for color correction instead of saline tattoo removal. This will be a 2 - 3 visit process.

Brow Color Corrections - Stage 1

For the first visit, we tattooed the original brow where ever there was green pigment. WE DID NOT DO ANY SHAPING THIS VISIT. We needed to make sure that the majority of the green was covered.

Brow Color Corrections - Stage 2

On the second visit, you can see that most of the green pigment has turned a neutral brown color. This is what we wanted. Now that we have a neutral canvas, we can begin the shaping process to give her a brow that compliments her face and natural hair growth. We faced many problems with these brows. Not only was the pigment green, but the shape was very off. One brow was rounder and higher. While we do our best, we explained to the client that perfection in this situation may not be possible. If we were working with her natural brow, we could adjust the overall height/shape, but since it was old tattoo we would have to work within those perimeters.

Brow Color Corrections Stage 3

As you can see she left the second appointment with a more even shape. We evened out the height and got rid of the "hook" toward the end. We kept the color very warm, almost red looking, so that when the brow tattoo heals it will stay brown. Upon checking with her at the 6 week mark, she did not need another touch up as she was happy with the shape and color. The important part of this is to trust the process. It may not make sense at first, but there is a method to the madness.

During the Appointment...

At Harlowe Beauty Studio,  you can expect a personalized experience tailored to your needs. At the appointment we will start by mapping out the perfect brow for you. We will work together to determine width, arch, and style. We do not start the tattooing process until you give the go ahead. From there we use a strong numbing cream to ensure you are comfortable throughout the procedure. Most people fall asleep. The entire process takes about 3 hours and you will be given an aftercare kit with instructions.  From there you come back in 6 -  8 weeks for your touch up visit.

Stages of Healing

After the initial procedure your brows will appear almost perfect,  but this will change. Please be aware of the healing stages to avoid stressing about your brows. Your brows will go through several stages where they will become noticeably darker, then will become scabbed and itchy, and finally will almost disappear (ghosting stage), before finally healing to between 50% and 70% of their original depth. The stages depicted here are what should be expected.
