What is Fibroblast Skin Tightening?

Fibroblast Skin Tightening, also known as Plasma skin Tightening, is a nonsurgical treatment that uses energy in the form of plasma to rejuvenate skin by improving facial lines and wrinkles, skin pigmentation due to sun damage, loose skin, and other skin irregularities. A small device is used to create tiny dots (controlled burns) that run alongside the wrinkles on the skin. This process (sublimation) triggers an instant contraction and tightening of the skin fibers to create a lifting, remodeling, and rejuvenating effect. Most areas of the body and face can be treated. The procedure can take anywhere from 30 min. to 3 hours depending on the size of the area being treated. A difference can be seen immediately, but optimal results occur 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. 1 to 3 treatments may be required.

What should you expect?

Before the treatment begins, a numbing cream will be applied to minimize discomfort. Treatment areas will be marked and then a device will be used to create tiny controlled burns alongside wrinkles. The treatment may feel hot in places and there may be a tingling or slight burning sensation afterwards. Tiny dark brown marks will be visible for the first 7 days, but will fall off naturally. The skin will feel tender and will be red and swollen. Every individual is different, but some experience swelling for only a few days whereas others swell for a week. Swelling is common and can be quite pronounced especially around the eye area. Ointment and aftercare instructions will be given to take home. During the healing process skin may feel dry and itchy. Results will last for years, but depend on severity of skin laxity and overall skin health. Several sessions may be needed to obtain desired results.
